At the most recent Figma Config event, which took place in May 2025, the design system launched a new groundbreaking tool called Figma Sites. Given its name, it is a little bit obvious that it does exactly that, but let’s dive into probably the most interesting release from the Figma Config 2025 event. 

To enter the web publishing industry, Figma launched a tool created especially to be a valuable alternative and a strong competitor to Webflow, WordPress, and Framer.

Figma Sites represents a creation tool for websites that are directly integrated with the entire Figma ecosystem and allows users to transform their design prototypes into functional websites without needing to use any additional tool for this. 

Using artificial intelligence technology to generate code for users, Figma Sites provides a simple and accessible web development process, even for those who have minimal knowledge in this field. 

So, without needing to write a single line of code, Figma Site is able to completely transform the way designers see the website development process by removing complex tasks and coding requirements. So, without needing other third-party tools to create a website, Figma Sites covers everything using just the Figma portfolio of tools. 

What exactly can you do in Figma Sites? Designers can publish certain responsive pages that can adapt easily to different screen sizes, and add animated transitions or navigation links for a smoother experience. Also, directly in this new Figma tool, designers can create a custom domain or just one provided for free by Figma. 

Compared with the previous Figma Prototypes feature, which was only capable of simulating the actual user flow and navigation experience, Figma Sites is able to generate fully functional websites that are accessible from different devices.

Based on advanced Figma AI technology, Figma Sites is able to understand and analyze certain design elements and generate HTML, CSS, or even JavaScript code that corresponds to those elements. So, this feature, besides that it uses AI technology to work, is able to allow users to develop an entire website, making the whole transformation process much easier and enjoyable.

2. Customizable Layouts & Templates

‍Because it is implemented directly in the Figma design tool, the Figma Sites tool offers users a wide range of already designed templates along with layouts, in order to provide an easier project start based on well-created designs. Keep in mind that the provided templates can be fully customizable, so if you don’t like an element, it can be easily replaced or changed with any other.

3. Interactive & Bouncy Animations

Because Figma knows that animations play an important role in designs, they are now available in the Figma site's tool. Users are able to enhance the entire website's interaction based on certain effects and animations. Even more so, the animation system uses Figma AI technology to generate different types of code that are necessary for implementing different animations or effects, such as hover effects, dynamic animations, or others.

Users only need to describe what kind of animation they want, and Figma AI technology does the rest.

Figma Sites not only include designs and layouts but also include certain essential elements of tools that significantly help the website become more visible and popular among users. Designers can add directly to the Figma Site SEO metadata, including page titles, favicons, and meta descriptions, to make the website appear in search engine results.

Compared with tools such as Webflow, Wix, or Framer, the recently launched Figma tool takes the web development process to a whole new level.
